Ecological justice
At A Rocha Costa Rica, we stand for justice for all living creatures and the essential elements that sustain them. That is why we have committed ourselves to the recovery of green spaces and have inspired members of our community to take an active part in these initiatives.
These efforts also encompass environmental education, the contemplation of the wonders of nature, pollution reduction, reforestation, and joint neighborhood cleanup efforts.
We firmly believe in the power of education to rehabilitate our environment, and we remain steadfast in our dedication to uphold our values and to cherish all expressions of life.
Urban park
Neighbors of Santa Rosa (Santo Domingo, Heredia, Costa Rica) remember swimming and fishing in the Virilla River. Today, they live with their backs to the river. A Rocha CR’s vision is to restore the relationship with the river and its entire ecosystem so that the local community and the whole watershed can thrive.
Casa Nube
Located in the cloud forest on the outskirts of San José and right next to Costa Rica’s largest national park, Casa Nube is an ideal place for conservation and environmental education, scientific research, and retreats of all kinds.
Just 30 minutes from Santa Rosa, Casa Nube is a hidden gem nestled in the lush embrace of Heredia’s breathtaking mountains, a stone’s throw from Braulio Carrillo National Park. Here, among misty forests and the very pulse of nature, a convergence of purpose, reflection, and growth is shaping what began as a dream.
Educational area
A Rocha Costa Rica promotes creative educational opportunities aimed at the holistic development of children. Through after-school tutoring programs, we strengthen their academic abilities, encourage their creative expression, and foster their active participation in learning. Likewise, we develop training processes that integrate art, critical reflection, and environmental care, consolidating a participatory educational model that promotes equity, inclusion, and the building of sustainable communities.

Support for
migrants and refugees
An unwavering commitment of A Rocha Costa Rica is to offer compassionate and holistic support to migrants in Costa Rica. We prioritize creating spaces that foster meaningful dialogue, ensuring that migrants are not only heard but truly valued. Our services include psychological support, assistance in finding employment and housing, as well as the provision of clothing and food.
In addition, we actively cultivate connections by collaborating with like-minded organizations. This collaborative effort allows us to build a broader network of support for migrants, ensuring that they receive the necessary assistance, no matter where their journey takes them.
Community belonging and collaboration
We seek to generate and promote a sense of belonging and cohesion among the different local actors in the community of Santa Rosa. Among them are other community-based organizations, churches, and local schools. At the same time, we are involved in the urban planning processes that are carried out by entities such as the local government and public universities.
Picnic by the River
A little glimpse of our day at the Virilla River!
Once again, we joined the Picnic at the River and the 9th National Day of Actions for Rivers, visiting our beloved Virilla River where our ancestors once enjoyed swimming, fishing, and having picnics.
We planted trees that help protect the water resource and contribute to landscape restoration.
12th ACA Anniversary
What a beautiful day of celebration with our neighbors from Santa Rosa! We planted trees, enjoyed live music, learned from the children in our tutoring program, and shared choripanes.
